My first semester of sophomore year is wrapping up, and there’s been a lot to learn. The coming year is unpredictable with new, exciting things to come. Taking a moment to look at the things these past few months have blessed me with is so good in light of the future.
PATIENCE
This semester has been one of waiting and slow growth. Last year, I grew in leaps and bounds with extreme highs and lows. Now I have been slowly learning more and more about who I am and who He is and how that influences my life. It’s frustrating when things aren’t automatically coming to fruition, but it is all well worth the wait. Good things are coming, along with struggles. Being at peace with that is crucial in times of waiting.
RELATIONSHIP
Friends and family are so valuable in this life. In the past few months, I have learned to find real joy in the relationships I have and am constantly making. Taking time to see friends and invite new ones to hang out on campus is so worth the time I take out of studying or work. Even the people that I see rarely at all are so beneficial in my walk and just a joy to my life. Being in a long distance dating relationship is one of those examples. Not only do I value the time I get with Cam more because I see him less, but I make new relationships through the ones he has already. I find sweet people to walk with wherever I am in life. What a valuable thing we have been given in relationship with others.
OPPORTUNITY
I have been really blessed recently with so many opportunities to grow and do more. On the daily level and in a futuristic way. This summer I am going on a two month missions trip, and at the beginning of the semester I didn’t even dream that I would be able to go. Doors are constantly being opened. The wrong doors are being shut. Conversations open up to life changing talks, and people bring talent to the table that wasn’t there before. I am grateful for the things in my life that have brought me to the possibilities of my future.
All this is simply to say that the future is good and exciting!!! Yet we should take time to look at the lessons, blessings, and path-changes that are happening now. We are shaped quicker than we know, and even a few months time can open our eyes to new possibilities. Don’t fret about the past, but don’t be anxious about the future. “All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us”.
